Primary School Bike Shelter

The Project

Cranbourne South Primary School reached out to PEC to design and construct a purpose-built Secure Bike Shelter for their school to accommodate 30-40 bikes and scooters.

We attended site and met with staff ensuring that we supplied and manufactured exactly to their specific needs.

PEC successfully quoted for an 8 metre x 4 metre Secure Shelter and won the contract for the design, engineering, manufacture and installation of the shelter.

Project scope included:

Design and Fabrication and engineering of an 8 metre x 4 metre Secure Bike Shelter
Accommodation for 38 Bikes & Scooters
Transport, Assembly & Installation

The Challenge

Whilst the school needed to obtain funding for this project and obtain their own Council Permit and approvals, this turned out to be somewhat of a challenge for them and they reached out to us for our assistance, to which we were happy to oblige with both VSBA requirement for funding and building surveyors in order to make this as smooth and effortless for both them and PEC.

PEC undertook liaising with surveyors and were able to satisfy their every need and demand, although sometimes difficult at times.

Funding was approved and PEC designed, engineered and commenced manufacture of the shelter at our Thomastown Victoria Manufacturing facility successfully and on-time.

Next was the challenge of transporting such a large structure to site for installation, this was quickly resolved by our production team and the decision was made to manufacture this in modular form and assemble on-site.

Not easy by and means, they applied their CAN-DO approach and made it possible and acceptable to the building surveyor to approve and accept. .

Erecting the shelter was the next challenge as the shelter had to be assembled and installed between a building and a shipping container that were both permanent structures, once again the PEC installation team put their thought into place applying PEC’S CAN DO attitude and made it happen to the delight of our customer.
